Update: I GOT MARRIED!

So yes this is partially the reason I have been missing for the past few months, the others include starting a new job, getting ready to go back to school for nutrition, and not having a laptop. I am beyond excited to get back to blogging and really up the ante on the quality and content of my blog.

The Emporium and a Weekend I won't Forget

Last weekend was my mother's birthday, so to celebrate we set out to go to dinner at a unique and delicious restaurant. We found ourselves at the door step of a wonderful little place called the Emporium in Readfield, Maine. Our expectations were beyond met, and we got to experience an amazing ambiance filled with art work and great food.

My Natural Everyday Makeup

I hope you don't mind looking at pictures of my face (cringe), If anyone is even reading this I'm sorry for the photos you are about to endure, but I thought I would share my daily very natural makeup routine. I would say my no makeup, makeup routine but I find that to be counterintuitive, and obviously if I'm writing a post about makeup it will have makeup. But anyways, rant over! I don't even know if that made sense...

Hiking in the White Mountains

One week ago I climbed a 4,180 ft. mountain in the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire called North Tripyramid; to say it was the most strenuous hiking experience of my life would be an understatement. The North peak is the most difficult to climb out of the Tripyramid trio of mountains, it contains rock slides, steep inclines, and where we started our adventure, it was very easy to miss the main trail. In fact, for the first 2 hours (after leaving Sabbaday Falls) we were off the path and were hiking straight down a brook.

Kayaking and Exploring

Pawtuckaway State Park in New Hampshire is a gorgeous place to unwind and just experience the outdoors as it is meant to be. I had heard a rumor that the park was covered in wild blueberries, and I wanted a chance to see the seasonal delight. Though the initial hike was not what I had planned, we eventually were able to find the wild blueberries while kayaking.

Mini Beauty Haul and Lorac Pro Swatches

While out shopping, I purchased a couple makeup items from Kohl's, TJ Maxx, and Sephora and thought I would share them with you. I may have gotten a little over excited and tried out all the products already with the exception of one of them, but at least I can let you know how I am getting along with them.

My First Attempt at Making a Smoothie Bowl

In attempting to create a tasty treat and see what all the hype is about with smoothie bowls (after all, its just a smoothie that's not in a cup right?), I fell upon creating my own recipe and thought I would share it with you guys. Seeing as I had an entire bag of wild blueberries from the local state park, I wanted to figure out a way to incorporate them into my meals; this was one of the ways I decided to use them. After picking the blueberries I put half in the refrigerator to use this week and the other half in a freezer bag to use for smoothies, cereal, and salads. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty and refreshing this smoothie bowl was, and how much I didn't feel like I was just drinking a smoothie with a spoon. Here is my blueberry banana smoothie bowl recipe:

Wharfs and Marinas: Salem and Newburyport, MA

Last week I met up with my mom, brother, and grandmother and we all headed into Salem, MA for lunch. There is a massive amount of history to be learned and seen in Massachusetts, and Salem does not disappoint. Although Salem is famous for being the place where the witch trials occured, there is so much more history associated with the area than that.

Book chat: The China Study

Whole foods, what are those? No, Im not talking about the grocery store chain, even though those are great too. Whole foods include fruits, vegetables, and grains in their natural and unprocessed state. Eating a whole foods, plant based diet is beneficial in many ways. If you want to know more about the benefits of this diet/lifestyle I suggest reading "The China Study" by T. Colin Campbell, PhD and Thomas M. Campbell II, MD. It is not only an informative good read, but it consists of the largest nutrition study ever conducted! I really enjoyed reading this book and learning about how my health is affected by things that I always thought of as healthy.

Skincare Tips Everyone Should Know!

The integumentary system (skin) is the largest organ system included in the human body. The skin itself is comprised of the epidermis (top layer), dermis (middle layer), and hypodermis (the deepest most layer of the skin other than subcutaneous fat). It is important that each layer of skin is taken care of properly to maintain skin health. I am in no way shape and form a professional in the skin care industry but through the years I have picked up some things that have worked for me, as well as I asked my mother, a licensed aesthetician, what she thought were some helpful tips . So here they are:

July Favorites

As you read this your probably asking yourself July Favorites, really? I am posting this knowing very well that it is 11 days into August, but I figured better late than never. July was a whirlwind month for me with just moving back to New England from Florida in mid-June. For me, July was filled with so many interesting outings including finally seeing a load of a family, taking part in a wedding, and exploring my new home state of New Hampshire. But enough of my babbling lets get to the good stuff, the products I have enjoyed using this past month.

Booth Bay, Maine

This past week, Michael and I went to Maine to visit my family because I had not seen them in forever. While visiting we made a day trip to BoothBay, Maine. Booth Bay is a wonderful waterfront town with an antique feel, almost Cape Cod'esk (but I guess that is most of New England for you).

My 5 Skincare Favorites

Skincare has been a struggle of mine for a couple years now. I struggle with a lot of redness in my t-zone and all over my face, and also have enlarged pores on my nose. My main focus has been to keep my skin as clean as possible, but at the same time keeping it hydrated, I have combination skin that leans more to the dry side. If I do not use moisturizer daily, my skin will literally flake off (gross right!?) I have found that the following products have really helped me get my skin to a better place and keep my face clean.

Weekly Nature

A Weekend in June

Im originally from New England, and I just moved to New Hampshire from central Florida this past week. In between all the unpacking and getting back into the swing of things that is usually associated with moving, I have been getting outdoors a lot more. It is just so calming to get out and see nature.

Who is the Mo?

Hey, my name is Morgan or Mo for short, I really enjoy writing and taking pictures so I figured starting a blog would be awesome outlet for writing about things that I am particularly interested in. I'm 25 years old and grew up in New England, USA. I have two pups that I am absolutely in love with, Kipper is a maltese Chinese crested mix and Chancey is a pit bull, black-mouth cur mix. I am really interested in anything including but not limited to nature, makeup, fashion, health, and yummy recipes. I hope you enjoy reading what I have to say as much as I like writing it!

Talk to you soon!
